Girl’s Time to Speak Out!

It’s amazing what you’ll hear when there’s a room full of teenage girl’s, all ages 14-18, talking about love, relationships, boys and sex. And, by having some of them blog (post their comments) during the past two weeks, has given them another avenue to speak out and have their voices heard about issues that affect them the most. The girls discuss who’s dating who; who’s having sex; who’s a virgin; who’s going to prom; what colleges they’re attending after graduation; parents; family; STD/HIV, pregnancy, etc. Having this opportunity to interact with the SiHLE group has been very insightful to say the least. Even though I am a mentor to most of the girls and they look up to me, there are many things I’ve learned from each of them during every meeting. A few are still virgins and there are some who have engaged in sexual activity; safe and/or unsafe interaction. I am very proud of the entire group for being honest and revealing their past sexual experiences. Now, all we have to do is get the boys to be as honest as them!

Please take a moment to review their comments, which are awesome! All the entries were not scripted, but were written from the heart and experiences.
